What You Need to Know

The Basics of Veneers

Veneers are made of a thin shell of porcelain, and are designed to fit over the fronts of your teeth, covering them up and transforming your smile. Because they cover up and protect the entire front surface of your tooth, they are very versatile, and can be used to correct almost any cosmetic issue with your smile.
Dr. Naik is a well-rounded, compassionate, and experienced dentist with a stellar chairside manner. She has a way of making patients feel at ease and comfortable in our office, and by the time you leave your appointment you’ll feel like you gained a friend. If you’re looking for a new dentist in Flower Mound, Dr. Naik would feel honored to be a part of your oral care journey!

What to Expect From

The Veneers Process

It typically takes two appointments over a 2-3 week timespan to get veneers. Here’s an overview of what you can expect from the process.

Prep & impressions

At your first appointment, Dr. Naik will discuss your smile goals with you and take impressions of your teeth. She'll send these impressions to a trusted lab where they will make a preliminary wax mock-up.

When we receive these from the lab, you will come back to try out and approve the mock-up. Dr. Naik will make any necessary adjustments and send the wax mock-up back to the lab so they can begin crafting your custom temporary veneers and custom permanent veneers. The permanent veneers take longer to complete which is why you'll receive a set of temporary veneers in the meantime.

Veneer Attachment

When it is time to place your temporary veneers, your teeth will be trimmed and about 0.5mm of enamel will be removed to make room for your veneers. Your mouth will be numbed and Dr. Naik will remove enamel from each tooth that is receiving a veneer.

Once your custom permanent veneers have been crafted and arrive at our office, you'll come back to have them placed. She will check the fit of each veneer before bonding it into place permanently with dental cement. Finally, she will buff and polish your teeth, and send you home with a brand new, beautiful smile.

How Long Do Veneers Last?

Veneers can last up to 15 years or longer with proper care. To keep your veneers in great shape, make sure you brush and floss regularly, and see Dr. Naik for regular oral exams at River Walk Dental.

To ensure your veneers are not prematurely damaged or dislodged, avoid using your front teeth to eat extremely hard foods like ice and almonds, or to chew non-food objects like fingernails or pencils. You also should not use your teeth as tools to do things like open bags or tear tape.
