Tooth extractions are our last resort at River Walk Dental, and Dr. Sonal Naik will always try to save your natural tooth before an extraction. However, extractions are sometimes the best way to prevent further complications and relieve your pain and discomfort. Learn more now, or contact us to schedule a consultation.
At our office, we offer basic extractions for wisdom teeth that are fully erupted, as well as damaged teeth that cannot be restored with restorative care. In this process, the tooth is simply loosened in the socket, then pulled out using dental tools.
This is in contrast to surgical extractions. Surgical extractions involve cutting into the gums to remove a tooth piece-by-piece, and are required for impacted teeth (teeth that have not fully erupted).
We do not offer surgical extractions, but Dr. Naik will refer you to an experienced oral surgeon if you require surgical extraction for a partially-erupted wisdom tooth or a similar complex issue.
Tooth extractions at River Walk Dental are simple and pain-free. Here is a brief overview of what to expect from the process.
No. Your mouth will be completely numb during the extraction process, so you will feel absolutely no pain or discomfort. However, once your numbing wears off, you may begin to experience some discomfort. This should peak and then begin to fade within 2-3 days as you follow Dr. Naik’s instructions and your mouth begins to heal.
Dr. Naik will provide you with a comprehensive set of care instructions, with information about proper diet, cleaning your extraction site, and other details. Follow these to the letter to keep your mouth healthy and speed up the recovery process.
