Fillings are the best way to restore your tooth if you have a cavity. Early intervention with a filling will prevent further damage, and allow you to get relief from the discomfort of tooth decay.
Crowns are designed to cover up your entire tooth and protect it from further damage after a root canal or treating a large cavity. They are also used to treat cracked or fractured teeth. Your remaining tooth structure will be trimmed, and a custom-built crown will be attached to restore its shape and function. They are usually used for deep cavities, to treat broken teeth, and to protect teeth after root canal therapy.
Dental bridges use two crowns to suspend a false tooth in the gap where your missing tooth used to be. They attach permanently to two of your teeth and are fixed in place, making them a convenient tooth replacement option. At our office, Dr. Naik also offers dentures as an option for smile restoration. There are two types of dentures available:
Full dentures are recommended if you’ve lost most or all of your natural teeth, since your remaining teeth must be extracted before they can be fitted. Our dentures are comfortable and natural, and allow you to get back to your day-to-day life after tooth loss.
Partial dentures use a metal and plastic framework to support multiple false teeth. They clip onto your remaining healthy teeth, and are a simple and convenient way to restore your smile.
Root canal therapy is the best way to restore teeth that have become infected due to an oral injury or a severe cavity. You can get relief from your pain, and preserve your tooth.
If you don’t get treatment for an infected tooth, your tooth will eventually die and require replacement. But with a root canal, we save your tooth and prevent these complications.
Dr. Naik will numb your mouth, create an opening in the tooth, and extract infected tooth material. Then, the tooth will be sanitized, filled, sealed, and restored with a dental crown to prevent further damage.
Tooth pain isn’t always an indicator of tooth damage. In some cases, a tooth can become infected or die without any pain at all. If you think you have a damaged tooth, you need to get help even if it doesn’t hurt.
The most common signs of an infected tooth are a toothache, sensitivity to heat, cold, and the pressure of chewing, and discoloration or inflammation of the gums near the affected tooth.
Eventually, your tooth will die, and you will need to replace it. It may remain in your mouth, fall out, or require extraction. This is why it’s so important to get help for a damaged tooth right away.
