Preventive dentistry is our specialty at River Walk Dental. Dr. Sonal Naik focuses on preventive care, and can provide you with the treatment you need to keep your teeth and gums healthy in Flower Mound.
Fluoride treatments are a great way to fight back against tooth decay. Dr. Naik will apply a layer of fluoride-rich paste or gel to your teeth. This fluoride attracts minerals that strengthen your enamel, helping to prevent cavities from forming and keeping your teeth healthy.
Dental sealants are a great way to prevent cavities and keep your mouth healthy. They consist of a thin layer of dental resin, which is applied directly to your rear teeth by Dr. Naik. This resin hardens and creates a barrier that prevents tooth decay and keeps your smile healthy.
When applied properly, dental sealants can last years. This means they’re the best way to get long-lasting protection against cavities, so they’re an ideal option if you’re cavity-prone.
It takes only a few minutes to apply each sealant, and the process is totally non-invasive. Sealants can be administered as part of any bi-annual cleaning and oral exam at River Walk Dental.
We’ll start by cleaning your teeth. Dr. Naik will scrape away plaque and tartar, buff and polish your teeth, and floss to remove any remaining debris.
Dr. Naik will examine your mouth to look for signs of gum disease, tooth decay, oral cancer, and more.
We usually recommend x-rays for adult patients when they first see Dr. Naik. Follow-up appointments may require x-rays based on your individual needs and level of oral health.
A cleaning removes plaque and tartar and surface stains from your teeth, keeping your smile bright. It also allows Dr. Naik to identify potential oral health issues early, and to provide you with the treatment you need.
Cleanings are a preventative treatment for your gum health and bone health that help prevent disease. If a disease such as gingivitis (inflammation of the gums) or periodontitis (inflammation of the bone) is diagnosed, then deeper cleanings and other treatments become necessary to help reduce inflammation and reduce the risk of that disease process progressing.
To keep your mouth healthy, you should visit the dentist every six months, as recommended by the American Dental Association.
If you don’t see Dr. Naik and the team at River Walk Dental for regular teeth cleanings and oral exams, you will likely have a higher risk of developing gum disease, tooth decay, and other common dental issues.
