Invisalign is a great option if you want to straighten your teeth, but would like to avoid the unsightly appearance of traditional braces. At River Walk Dental, Dr. Sonal Naik specializes in orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign. Contact us now to see if you’re a good candidate for treatment.
Invisalign works by using a series of durable, clear plastic aligners. These look similar to a nightguard or retainer. When worn, each set of aligners shifts your teeth slightly toward the proper position.
By switching through a series of aligners, you can correct the position of your teeth and resolve orthodontic issues like gaps in your smile, uneven teeth, crooked and crowded teeth, and even minor bite problems.
Not sure what to expect from the Invisalign process? Your treatment will consist of two basic phases.
First, you’ll come in for an appointment with Dr. Naik. She will determine if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign. If you are approved, she will take images and impressions of your mouth, and work with Invisalign to create your treatment plan. You’ll come back in a few weeks to pick up your first several sets of aligners.
You’ll wear your aligners for about 20-22 hours per day. About every 2 weeks, you’ll switch to a new set of aligners based on Dr. Naik’s instructions, and you’ll come in every 4-6 weeks for a brief check-up. Dr. Naik will ensure your teeth are moving properly, and she will provide you with your next several sets of aligners. This process will continue until your treatment is complete. Finally, you’ll get a set of custom made retainers to wear to keep your smile straight and beautiful.
Your aligners will be totally invisible when worn, and do not affect speech. This makes them much more subtle than braces.
Invisalign has no metal parts to poke at your mouth, and corrects your teeth gently to minimize discomfort. In addition, your aligners can be removed to eat and drink and to brush and floss, making Invisalign more convenient than braces.
Treatment with Invisalign takes an average of about 12 months for qualified candidates, making it faster than braces, in most cases.
The cost of Invisalign varies for each patient based on factors like your oral health, the extent of your orthodontic issues, anticipated treatment time, and more. The best way to get an estimate for the cost of Invisalign is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Naik at River Walk Dental.
