Getting Your Implants

Dental Implant Placements

If Dr. Naik finds that you are a good candidate for dental implants, she will begin developing a custom implant placement plan for you. The next step will be to come into our office to have your implant(s) placed.

Dr. Naik will create an opening in your gums and jaw bone, and place each implant precisely. The area will be sutured and you’ll be sent home to heal. It takes about 3-6 months for the implant to osseointigrate with your jaw bone.

Restore One or More Missing Teeth

Single-Tooth & Full-Arch Implants

Single-tooth implants are the best way to restore your smile if you’re missing just a few teeth. If you’ve lost most or all of your teeth, full-arch implants may be a better option. Learn more below.

Single-Tooth Implants

This method of tooth restoration uses a single dental implant. A dental crown is attached to the implant after it heals, replacing a single missing tooth and restoring your smile.

Full-Arch Implants

Full-arch implants use a series of 4-6 implants in the upper arch, lower arch, or both arches of the teeth. When they heal, a set of fixed or removable dentures can be attached to them, replacing your natural teeth.

What Are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

Dental implants can last for years to come with proper care, will never shift or move, and look and feel like natural teeth. In addition, they can support and maintain the jaw bone. This prevents bone resorption, which is a common problem after tooth loss. Dental implants are the best long-term investment in your oral health if you’re missing one or more teeth.

What Can I Expect From the Dental Implant Process?

At your first appointment, Dr. Naik will evaluate your gum, bone, and medical history with an exam to see if you're a candidate for dental implants. If she feels you are a candidate, a CBCT (CT scan of the jaws) will be taken in-office. Dr. Naik will use this 3D tool to help her plan your implants depending on your bone structure. Next, a treatment plan will be developed to give you an estimate of cost. Dental Implants are a medical procedure that require your body to heal, so often times, additional procedures (such as a bone graft or gingival tissue graft) may be required to help you heal properly. It's difficult to estimate the treatments you will need, how much it will cost, and the outcomes as this is dependent on your body, health, and your ability to heal. At River Walk Dental, we try our best to be upfront about costs and transparent about what is possible and what is not possible. The best way to approach dental implants is to maintain open and honest communication with Dr. Naik about your wants and needs, and to be realistic with your expectations.

What Is The Dental Implant Timeline?

Depending on your oral health, it may take anywhere from 6-12 months to have your dental implants placed. The wait is worth it, though, as your implant will last for years to come with proper care.
